• Jacksonville police identify, arrest suspect after robbery, kidnapping, chase that injured officers

    The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Thursday afternoon that it has arrested Lawrence Hall III, 26, for fleeing/attempting to elude law enforcement and attempted murder of a police officer after the robbery, kidnapping, and chase that left two officers injured Wednesday. 

    JSO said in a statement released Thursday afternoon that further charges are pending regarding the robbery at Lucky Charms as well as the kidnapping. 

    JSO tweeted that Hall was released from prison in September and is a convicted felon. 

    JSO said that officer Josh Wiggins, 35, was injured when he was struck by the suspect on Mayport Road; Officer Christopher Rouselle, 29, was injured while attempting a vehicle intervention tactic on Atlantic Boulevard.

    A backpack, gun cash and other items were recovered near the kidnapping location.

    Louis Reese, 84, the kidnapping victim and both officers are still hospitalized.

    Hall is also still hospitalized.

    The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the robbery, kidnapping and auto theft in Mayport that stretched 8 miles into the Arlington area Wednesday. 

    One of those officers was seriously injured after he was intentionally hit by the suspect's vehicle at the intersection of Wonderwood and Mayport, the Sheriff's Office said.

    When the suspect drove away, police said the second officer was hit in his patrol car at Atlantic and Kernan Boulevard. The suspect was seen running red lights going 100 mph, according the police.

    It all started around 2:08 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucky Charms Arcade on Mayport Road, JSO said. JSO said a suspect robbed the business at gunpoint.

    JSO says they are looking at other robberies the suspect is believed to be involved in.
