The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery, kidnapping and auto theft in the Mayport area that left two officers injured Wednesday.
LATEST: Jacksonville police identify, arrest suspect after robbery, kidnapping, chase that injured officers
Here is a timeline of the events that took place:
- Armed robbery at Lucky Charms Arcade on Mayport Road at 2:08 p.m. Police say a suspect in his 20s entered the arcade, held people inside at gunpoint and stole money. The suspect ran from the arcade and into a neighborhood.
- The suspect then stole a vehicle and kidnapped a man on Stern Drive at 2:34 p.m.
- Police tracked the suspect and drew their guns, but he took off.
- Suspect hit JSO officer on Mayport Road where the officer was putting down stop sticks.The officer was seriously hurt, according to JSO.
- Suspect then drove away and hit another officer in his patrol car at Atlantic and Kernan Boulevard. He was seen running red lights going 100 mph.
- The chase ended with JSO doing a maneuver that caused the suspect to crash into a power pole on Atlantic Boulevard near St. Johns Bluff. The vehicle caught fire and the pole snapped in half. Power lines then caused a fire on the ground below.
- The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a hospital. The victim was also taken to the hospital.
JSO said there are five crime scenes total.
The Sheriff's Office believes it knows who the suspect is, and that if it is who investigators believe it is -- that suspect was recently released from prison.
No officers had body cameras, according to JSO
