Police: woman shot in face the by ex-boyfriend’s brother

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is recovering after she was shot in the face in Murray Hill Friday, JSO reports.

Police say it happened in a front yard of a house on College Street around noon. A woman showed up at a house where a person had a restraining order against her and an argument broke out. The brother of the woman’s ex-boyfriend’s then shot her in the jaw, officers said.

JSO says the woman ran from the home. over one block to Plum Street, where people called 911.

People who live on Plum street say the violence in their neighborhood is getting worse.

Jane Faltesek has lived on Plum Street for six years.

“We’re getting a different clientele moving in,” she said. “We’re thinking about moving.”

Action News Jax was on Plum Street back in October for a separate shooting. JSO’s crime map reports nine assaults within a one-mile radius of Plum Street in the past four weeks alone.

“I don’t even take my dogs for a walk anymore,” Faltesek added. “We get scared to take a walk.”

Faltesek says she sees JSO around a lot, but only after a crime happens. She wants to see more police presence before any violence in her neighborhood.

Police told Action News Jax the woman who was shot is having surgery in the hospital and have not made any arrests at this time.
