Lawsuit filed against semi driver in Buckman Bridge crash that killed family

A $10 million lawsuit has been filed in the wake of a fiery crash on the Buckman Bridge.

In March, a crash killed a family of four after a semi driver slammed into their stalled car on the Buckman Bridge.

The lawsuit was filed against the semi driver, who the Florida Highway Patrol just said on Monday, caused the crash.

This lawsuit alleges 16 different counts that lead to the deadly crash, including that the driver wasn't even qualified to drive the truck.

The suit is filed by Dexter Culclager Jr. Culclager’s wife and three stepchildren all burned to death inside a SUV on March 2.

The suit names Sunteck Transport Group, which ships the goods in the truck, Hobit Express, which operates the truck, and driver Judson Humphries.

The lawsuit says the drivetrain on the Culclager family's SUV stopped working, and they were broken down on the bridge for about five minutes before the crash.

Records show the driver of the semi was distracted before his big rig slammed into the SUV, causing it to eventually burst into flames, killing the family inside.

The lawsuit goes on to say Sunteck Transport Group did not make sure Humphries was even qualified to be on the road.

The records show Sunteck Transport Group allowed Humphries to drive the semi without completing background checks to make sure he's a qualified commercial driver.

Action News Jax has reached out to all of the parties involved and no one has returned calls.
