CCSO: Middleburg man arrested for the murder of his brother

Middleburg man, John Ward Gill, is charged with murder after investigators with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office say he shot and killed his brother.

Deputies say on Sunday, Feb. 14, Gill’s wife called 911 after discovering both the suspect and the victim in need of medical attention.

First responders arrived at the home on Razorback Court and pronounced Thomas Melvin Gill dead.

According to a report, John Gill was transported to the Orange Park Medical Center with self-inflicted non life-threatening injuries.

After speaking with Gill, CCSO detectives arrested and transported him to the Clay County Jail.

Investigators say this appears to be a case of domestic violence.
