NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE: NCSO has called off the search for the man authorities said jumped in a body of water to escape them.
The Nassau County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say jumped into a body of water to avoid them Thursday morning.
NCSO was attempting to stop the man for a traffic violation.
According to Sheriff Leeper, the man ran and jumped into the water at Winterberry Avenue near a boat ramp, in an attempt to get away.

Police say they are unsure whether or not the man is still in the water.
