Naval Station Mayport to hold active shooter exercise tomorrow

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Tuesday, Jan. 24, Naval Station Mayport will hold an active shooter exercise.

Residents that live near by and drivers that might find themselves in the area should expect an increased presence of emergency vehicles on base.

Possible slowdowns at base gates should be anticipated. Also, Naval Station Mayport is warning those in the area that sounds of simulated gunfire will be taking place.

This is a regularly scheduled exercise and is not in response to an specific threat.
