“Very unfortunately had traffic fatalities where pedestrians have been hit coming back across 3rd Street coming back from the fireworks.” Lavender said.

Lavender said many pedestrians are not paying attention, and that can be dangerous once 4th of July events are over and the streets are flooded.

“Whenever the fireworks are done, everyone filters back across 3rd Street to their cars because parking is limited, but instead of crosswalks, they’re crossing over the large medians,” Lavender said.

Lavender said to use the crosswalks, and be mindful of drivers who might not be paying attention.

Jax Beach PD said roads will close at some point on the 4th of July, but it will depend on traffic.
