The Players Championship has begun, here’s what you need to know for parking and transportation

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — “The traffic is terrible,” Besty Corbett said. “I actually had my son drop me off and I’ll just take an Uber home or something because the traffic is ridiculous.”

For golf lovers around the world and locally, like Betsy Corbett, today’s starts of round one of The Players Championship could not have come soon enough. But due to heavy traffic fans may want exercise some patience over the next few days.

“With all these people here for the tournament A1A is like a bumper show,” Corbett said.

Corbett is a Ponte Vedra Beach native and says she’s seen traffic accidents as a result of the congestion and frustration that comes along with the heavy traffic from The Players Championship.

“Just this week I personally have seen three on A1A. Just wait, you know you don’t have to cut in front of people,” she said.

A1A is the main route to The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Action News Jax saw traffic get heavy that way between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., but if you’re staying inland and are hoping for less congestion, take CR-210 and Nocatee Parkway.

Traffic on A1A is one thing but foot traffic once you get to TPC Sawgrass is another. That’s why its important to download the PGA tour app. There you can see what holes all your favorite golfers are at.

Take note, you can take a rideshare to TPC Sawgrass but prices will vary depending on the traffic. There are also shuttles available. It’s free from Nocatee and other locations and it’s $20 roundtrip from Downtown Jax. More details on parking and transportation can be found by clicking here.
