Jacksonville officers seek information after 86-year-old found with his throat cut

Officers are asking the public for information after an 86-year-old Neptune Beach man was found with his throat cut in Jacksonville.

Police were called to the area of 8787 Maxville MacClenny Highway on Saturday after someone found Melvin Clark lying in the road with his throat cut.

His clothing was completely soaked and it appeared he pulled himself out of a ditch full of water and onto the dirt road, officers said.

Clark was airlifted to the hospital. Officers said he is unable to talk because of his throat injury.

Clark was reported missing by his wife in Neptune Beach Saturday and was last seen at 11:59 a.m.

He told his wife that he was going to Academy Sports on Atlantic Boulevard and then to the Navy Exchange on Mayport Road.

He was driving a black 2005 Honda CRV with a Salt Life sticker on the back windshield and a spare tire attached to the trunk.

The car has Florida tag of J2BRR and was not with Clark when he was found in the road.

The car was entered into the system as stolen and was found in Miami on Sunday.

Did you see this car around town this weekend? Police say it belongs to an 86-year-old man who was found lying in the road with his throat slit Saturday:
