Procession route, funeral arrangements released for fallen Deputy Ben Zirbel

The Clay County Sheriff's Office have released a procession route and the funeral arrangements for fallen deputy Ben Zirbel.

Deputy Zirbel died days after a Sunday motorcycle crash while on duty.

CCSO is set to depart from downtown Jacksonville on Friday, Aug. 24 at noon and will reach Clay County shortly after.

The scheduled route is I-10 to I-295, exiting on Blanding Boulevard south, then making a left on Baxley Road.

CCSO will then turn left on County Road 220 and then make a right on Henley Road. Once they reach Lake Asbury, deputies said they will make a left onto Sandridge Road and travel to the Russell Haven of Rest, located at 2335 Sandridge Road in Green Cove Springs.

Officials are inviting the public to stand roadside during the procession. This will be the only procession for Deputy Zirbel, authorities said.

The funeral for Deputy Zirbel will take place at St Luke's Catholic Church located at 1606 Blanding Boulevard on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m.

"There will not be a viewing or graveside service. The Honor Guard ceremony will take place immediately after the church service in the parking lot," the sheriff's office stated.
