JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Protestors marched into City Hall Tuesday afternoon to demand answers from Mayor Lenny Curry and city leaders.
This comes days after unarmed Vernell Bing Jr. was shot and killed by a Jacksonville Sheriff's officer in Springfield on Sunday. Police say Bing led officers on a high-speed chase and hit a patrol car head-on.
The chants and cries of the protestors were heard loud and clear as they marched inside City Hall. Family and friends of Bing and even protestors gathered, demanding answers, change and actions from Curry.
They’re asking for Curry and Sheriff Mike Williams to speak to the public face to face.
These protestors are now calling for the arrest of that officer who shot and killed Bing.
“The officer that killed my son, I want him to know, you are coward, you shot my son from behind, you not only took him, I know you feel like he’s a thug, but he’s mine. He’s mine," said Shirley McDaniel.
“We came to city hall, to get their attention, and we understood, there was something else, going on but If this doesn’t get the city’s attention, we have other methods of getting their attention, whether it’s local or nationally,” said protestor Diallo Sekoi.
