Restaurant Report: Jacksonville restaurant cited for dead rodent & hundreds of rodent droppings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Here’s what Action News Jax’s Ben Becker discovered this week following state inspections at local restuarants:

The Onyx Sports Bar & Lounge on Norwood Avenue near Carlton Street, was cited for seven live roaches, 451 rodent droppings and a dead rodent was present.

Inspectors say Rocking Crab Seafood and Bar on Blanding Boulevard near Youngerman Circle had time-temperature safety violations, raw animal food stored over ready-to eat-food and an employee personal items stored above a food prep area.

National Pizza Day was this past Tuesday, but according to inspectors, one local pizza shop had “mushroom” for improvement.

Becker paid a visit to Al’s Pizza on Beach Boulevard near San Pablo Road.

State inspectors say it had time/temperature safety violations, encrusted food debris on a mixer head and walk-in cooler gaskets were soiled with mold-like buildup.

Becker’s final stop this week was at Eclipse on St. Johns Avenue near Herschel Street. It had raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food, no proof of state approved employee training and a handwash sink not accessible for employee use, according to inspectors.

All the restuarants mentioned have passed follow up inspections.
