FHP: Driver found dead at rest area off I-95 in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers said no foul play is suspected after they found a man dead at a rest area on Christmas Eve morning.

At 9:20 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol was called out to the rest area off I-95 North near County Road 210 in St. Johns County to perform a wellness check for the driver of a commercial vehicle.

When troopers arrived, they found the commercial vehicle in the back parking lot of the rest area. Inside, they found its 50-year-old Darlington, South Carolina, driver, dead inside the vehicle’s sleeper area.

A possible cause of death was not revealed. The investigation did not affect traffic.
