FHP: One dead after crash at rest stop area in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says that one person is dead after a crash on the rest area exit ramp near Interstate 95 northbound and mile marker 301 Monday morning.

Troopers say that a Kia Sorento was driving north on the exit ramp and for unknown reasons drove into a Penske truck that was parked in the painted media zone of the rest area.

The Kia Sorento rear-ended the Penske Truck, causing it to push into a semi-truck parked in front of them.

The report says the Kia Sorento then caught fire. The driver of the Kia Sorento was pronounced dead. FHP has not released information on the driver.

The driver of the truck and semi were both asleep when the crash happened. They did not have any injuries.
