PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — The lockdown at Ocean Palms Elementary School has been lifted, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

The school, which is located on Landrum Lane near South Roscoe Boulevard, was locked down due to police activity in the area, according to the St. Johns County School District.

A helicopter was expected to land on school property and students would then be dismissed after the helicopter leaves, the district said.

SJSO said the following about the police activity:

“We are working an incident involving the discharging of a firearm in the area of Palm Lane in Ponte Vedra. There is an active investigation underway. The suspect is known to the victim. Due to the close proximity of Ocean Palms Elementary and out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed on a lockdown. At this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident.”
