St. Augustine police identify vehicle, still looking for 25-year-old man wanted for sexual battery on a minor

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The St. Augustine police department is looking for a man who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

The St. Augustine police tell Action News Jax that Hunter Dylan Jones Buck knows detectives want to talk to him. Detectives also believe he may have cut his hair, changed the color of it, and left this area.

“The initial information that we had was that his hair was green,” St. Augustine police corporal Jeff Collins said. “It could now be possibly black or he cut his hair, we’re not positive and that he may be staying with a friend.”

According to the St. Augustine police report, Hunter Dylan Jones Buck is accused of breaking into a house on Jan. 19 and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. While most of the report has been redacted, it shows the teen went outside thinking her mom was home, she came back inside and a man burst in.

Her mother came home to find someone there, she tried to block him from leaving, but he pushed her out of the way and fled.

Corporal Collins said this is an urgent matter and that Buck, in a predatory way, reached out to the victim before Jan. 19.

“Once the investigation took place, we learned that he actually made contact with the victim over about a week span on social media,” Collins said. “He instigated the communication with the child and began the process of trying to meet with the child.”

Action News Jax stopped by Buck’s most recent registered address and found nobody there. However, one man who lives just a mile from the address called the allegations disturbing.

“Hearing something like that, it’s a shame. You don’t want to hear about molestation or younger people being abused,” Claude Brice said.

The police report says a neighbor recently reported a prowler 3-4 weeks before the incident. During the investigation, they identified a vehicle.

“A Subaru Impreza, a dark colored vehicle with a roof rack and a sticker on the side,” Collins said.

Hunter Buck has a history of arrests. He was found guilty on charges of robbery back in 2013 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, as well as having a probation violation in 2017.

Corporal Collins said there are resources for those who have been sexually assaulted, including victims advocate with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. If you know where Hunter Dylan Jones Buck is, you’re urged to call 911.
