JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says three people died over a two-hour period in separate crashes in Northeast Florida late Thursday.

A 78-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car on the entrance ramp to the West Beltway from Dunn Avenue. The crash happened at 10pm.

Then, at 10:41 pm, FHP responded to a crash on Timuquana Road and Seaboard Avenue. A 62-year-old man who was walking south across the road was hit and killed. FHP says the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash. The 22-year-old driver was not hurt.

And at 11:52 pm, a man behind the wheel of an SUV died in a crash on US 17 and Dunn Ave. FHP says the 41-year-old driver tried to avoid hitting a car that had veered into his lane. The other driver, a 25-year-old man from Orange Park, was not injured. The crash is under investigation.
