Video: Young men record themselves stealing at Jacksonville 7-Eleven

Jacksonville police are looking for the young men shown in a cellphone video stealing from a local 7-Eleven.

The young men took the video and posted it to social media, according to police.

The police report states ten individuals entered the store at Kernan and Atlantic boulevards in a group Wednesday.

One young man recorded while the group stole multiple items, including a hot dog, which one of the young men made and ate right in front of a store employee, police said.

The 7-Eleven employee threatened to call the police, and shortly thereafter, the group left.

The report states several members of the group got into a black SUV, and the rest ran north.

“That's classic shoplifting and it's almost close enough to strong-armed robbery,” said Action News Jax law and safety expert Dale Carson.

Carson said if investigators determine that to be the case, the people involved could be looking at felonies.

“They identified themselves, they showed definite intent because they filmed it as they did it, so no one could argue later that it was the store's video that was used in a unique way to show that they're guilty,” Carson said.
