Patients we spoke to are frustrated.

“There was no communication, no forwarding number, I even tried the 800 number which was not getting me anywhere,” said Sherri Angel.

Angel has been trying to reach her dentist at Aspen Dental in Robinson for more than a week.

She took to Facebook and asked if anyone else was having trouble scheduling an appointment, that’s how she learned Aspen Dental had been hacked.

“Very surprised! I kept thinking I was dialing the wrong number,” Angel said.

Aspen Dental is the latest corporation hit by a cyber security hack.

The nationwide dental company has six locations in western Pennsylvania and more than 1000 across the country all of them knocked offline in the cyber attack.

The company’s website doesn’t have any information on the attack on the main page, but in its press releases the company stated in part:

“The cybersecurity incident temporarily impacted our ability to access scheduling systems, phone systems and other business applications. We are still working to resolve all the issues related to the incident, but we are open and seeing patients largely as normal.”

“I hope others, or at least Aspen Dental, would let us know what they are doing and what the next step is going to be.

Patients like Angel want to know if their information has been compromised, and she felt she had no choice but to find a new dentist.

“No it’s for next week, you still haven’t gotten to the dentist, no it’s for next week! Luckily, Robinson Family Dentistry is going to take me,” Angel said.

Aspen Dental’s media spokesperson told me they are accepting walk-ins and cannot say at this point if anyone’s information has been compromised, but they say they’ll inform patients when they know more.
