Baby on board? Japan Airlines creates seating chart for passengers who want to avoid tots

That can be particularly grating during long international flights. One airline is offering a possible solution for passengers who want to avoid a baby on board.

Japan Airlines is offering a feature that tells passengers where infants and toddlers will be seated before they book their seats, according to CNN. A "child icon" will appear above seats occupied by children between 8 days old and 2 years old, "Good Morning America" reported.

"Passengers traveling with children between 8 days and 2 years old who select their seats on the JAL website will have a child icon displayed on their seats on the seat selection screen," CNN reported, citing the airline's website.

The chart will not be foolproof.

The child icon will only work for passengers booking flights through the Japan Airlines website, CNN reported. And if there is a plane change, or if parents book their child's seat with award tickets, the icons might not show up, "Good Morning America" reported.

Still, some frequent fliers expressed delight that they could experience a more peaceful flight.

"Thank you for warnings(sic) me about where babies plan to scream and yell during a 13-hour trip," Rahat Ahmed tweeted. "This really ought to be mandatory across the board."
