MONESSEN, Pa. — As Donald Trump spoke Tuesday in Monessen, Pa., social media, as usual, began to weigh in on his speech, but not in the usual way.
Most of the comments centered not on his policy, but on his platform -- the one he stood on.
Trump gave his speech at Alumisource in front of what looked like bags of smashed aluminum cans. The colorful, albeit odd background, drew attention on social media and produced comments like these:
Seriously though what is this background of Trump's speech https://t.co/LE2IzW8aZ1 pic.twitter.com/dvKAb2KjDb

A lot of "recycled material" in the (background) of Trump's economic speech

The Trump garbage background also kinda reminds me of that liquor store at the end of Birdman pic.twitter.com/YbNf4WKBFe

Glad Trump has finally decided to give us a visual background representation of the theme of his campaign: trash pic.twitter.com/Dy3veB8zhO

Who planned this event? What is that background? Fire them immediately. I heard Trump is good at that.

Did Donald Trump decide to match the background from his speech with himself and his campaign #Trash pic.twitter.com/DfhHMq5tEm

Trump: "For my next speech, I want a big metaphorical monument to my campaign in the background."
