Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan Ream responded to a call around 5:30 a.m. in the convenience store parking lot and found a woman moments from giving birth, WFLA reported.

“They say it’s maybe a once-in-a-career experience,” Ream told Bay News 9.

Body camera footage shows Ream jumping into action.

“Head’s coming… keep on pushing… you can do it,” Ream said in the video.

Shortly later, the baby arrives.

“Oh, look at your beautiful baby boy,” Ream said.

The newborn’s father was grateful and shakes hands with Ream at the end of the video.

“Thank you, man,” the man said. “I really, really appreciate it. I was about to lose my mind. I’ve never — all the stuff I’ve been through in my life, I’ve never been through that.”

The mother and child were taken to a hospital. They are healthy and doing well.

Sheriff Chad Chronister commended Ream.

“Without hesitation, Deputy Ream jumped into action to assist this mother in labor,” Chronister said in a statement. “While a car is hardly a place anyone would want to give birth in, Deputy Ream repeatedly reassured the new mom that she was in good hands.”

Ream said the experience ranks as his No. 1 call.

“I was just making sure she was calm, and she was doing great — just kept pushing and keep doing what she had to do,” Ream told Bay News 9. “I think I was telling myself to keep calm at the same time.”
