In a post Sunday night on Instagram, Schumer said, “This was the hardest week of my life. I missed Thursday rehearsals when my son was rushed to ER and admitted for RSV. Shout out to all the parents going through this right now. I got to be with him the whole day at the hospital.”

Schumer was the guest host of Saturday Night Live on Nov. 5.

Schumer’s 3-year-old son, Gene, has been released from the hospital and is doing better at home, CNN reported. Gene is Schumer’s only child.

RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, is a respiratory virus that typically causes mild, cold-like symptoms, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, the virus can be serious for some, including infants and older adults.

The CDC said surveillance has shown an increase in RSV-associated emergency room visits in multiple areas across the U.S.

In her post, Schumer thanked the cast and crew of SNL for their support, saying, “The reason this show is so fun to do isn’t actually the performance of the show itself. It’s getting to spend time with the people there.”

Schumer also thanked the doctors and nurses who helped her and her son.
