Powerball numbers drawn for $508M jackpot after delay

Original report: Powerball players, it’s finally time to check your tickets.

After a nearly hourlong delay caused by “security protocols,” the lottery conducted Wednesday’s night drawing for a massive $508 million jackpot, according to a news release. The winning numbers were 6-8-15-27-42 and Powerball 10, with an optional Power Play of 3x, the Powerball website said.

As of 3:30 a.m. EDT Thursday, it was not clear whether any tickets had matched all six numbers to win the grand prize, which had a cash value of $256.3 million. “Results pending,” the website read.

Late Wednesday, Powerball released a statement explaining the delayed drawing, which was held at 11:47 p.m. EDT.

“Tonight’s Powerball drawing has been delayed due to a participating lottery needing extra time to complete the required security protocols,” the statement read. “Powerball has strict security requirements that must be met by all 48 lotteries before a drawing can occur. When the required security protocols are complete, the drawing will be performed under the supervision of lottery security officials and independent auditors.”

The next Powerball drawing is slated for Saturday night.
