72 marijuana plants, two truckloads of grow equipment seized in Interlachen drug bust

A St. Augustine man, Richard Iwanicki, was arrested in connection with a marijuana grow operation in Interlachen. 

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A St. Augustine man was arrested in connection with a marijuana grow operation in Interlachen.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission contacted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office after finding Richard Iwanicki in the process of growing an outdoor marijuana operation.

Detectives found an hydroponic marijuana grow operation.  Detectives removed 72 mature marijuana plants. Police say the street value of the confiscated plants totaled approximately $80,000.

Investigators also seized two truckloads of equipment, including lights and irrigation systems that were used to grow and cultivate marijuana.

Detectives say Iwanicki lives in St. Augustine, but used a rental home in Interlachen to grow marijuana.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drug and Vice detectives arrested Iwanick on charges of cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana in excess of 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Putnam County Jail, and released after paying $3,512 bond.
