Person killed after wrong-way driver crashes into car near Hart Bridge

11:20 p.m. UPDATE: The Florida Highway Patrol released the report of the fatal wrong-way crash on the Hart Bridge Thursday afternoon.

According to the report a 2012 Nissan Rogue was driving south on the northbound lanes of the Hart Express from Adams Street.

The Nissan collided with a 2018 Chevy Equinox, then hit a large truck and collided with the outside barrier wall.

74-year-old Joan Kinsler was in the Equinox and killed as a result of the crash.

Henok Mekonnen, 52, driving the Nissan was taken to Memorial Hospital.

The other other passengers in the Equinox Patricia Crusoe, 71, Ocelia Whitehead, 694 and Velda Griffith, 55, were taken to UF Health.

At least one person was killed in a crash that shut down the Hart Bridge Expressway on Thursday, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

This is the second fatal bridge accident in Jacksonville today. Earlier, one person was killed and two girls were injured in a crash on the Wonderwood Bridge

The Florida Highway Patrol said the Hart Bridge crash caused by a wrong-way driver who crashed into another car. The passenger in the other car was killed. Both drivers were hospitalized.

FHP said a black SUV was at-fault for driving the wrong-way on the bridge.

Two other vehicles involved, but only due to colliding with road debris.
