ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Cleanup crews were at a World Golf Village resort Friday after sprinklers soaked a conference room in the wake of a small fire.
The fire was reported Thursday night at the Renaissance at World Golf Village.
The hotel was evacuated. No one was injured and none of the rooms were damaged.
Crews said it could take days to dry out the room.
The room that was damaged was being used for the Florida Federation of Fairs and Livestock Show.
Tom Umiker of the group said it looked like an electrical fire broke out in one of the exhibitors' booths. The fire set off the sprinkler system in that room.
Umiker said the federation will do its best to work around the cleanup. “(They're) primarily drying out the floor (from) a tremendous amount of water that came in from the sprinkler system,” Umiker said.
Action News Jax was told that the resort is waiting for an insurance adjuster to provide an estimate of the damage.
