JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A for-profit college in Jacksonville has abruptly shut its doors, leaving its students and employees searching for answers.
Dade Medical College used to be located in Regency, but it shut down last week; now students are demanding answers.
On Saturday, students gathered outside the building holding up the memo they all received last week.
It gave no explanation for why Dade Medical College is closing, only saying they would be in touch with students in the next couple weeks about how they can move forward.
According to the Department of Health website, Dade had an 87 percent passing rate for the nursing program in Jacksonville as of January of this year, up from 33 percent the year before. But it doesn't say whether fewer people were taking the tests.

Last November, Action News Jax investigated this same school. We told you about the controversy surrounding the schools former president and CEO on ethics violations and arrests for sexual assault and aggravated battery.
Students we spoke to this weekend said they're stuck with thousands of dollars in debt, and nothing else to show for it, and former employees say students should've never been admitted in the last two weeks.
"I worked two jobs to get through school and you just ripped it away from me," said Nikki Lambert.
"We were told that there was no money, that we were not going to get paid, that effective immediately, they were going to close the doors, we had to pack up our belongings and they were going to shut the doors," said former employee Monica Galan.
We have also learned that former employees' paychecks have bounced just within the last couple weeks.
We reached out to a spokesperson with the school, but have not heard back from them.
