JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An 86-year-old man was killed in a crash on Friday afternoon.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash that happened around 2:30 p.m. at the Hart Expressway and University Boulevard.
According to police, the 86-year-old was taking the exit on University Boulevard when his car, a Toyota Tacoma, left the road and flipped before coming to a rest between the on and off ramp.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police believe the victim was likely not wearing a seatbelt.
An investigation has been launched to see what caused the crash. Police believe it was due to excessive speed, the sharp curve of the exit or a medical emergency.
