JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As JEA works to move toward normal business operations, the utility currently plans to resume service disconnections for non-payment on July 9th at the earliest.
Action News Jax reported last month that JEA had originally planned to resume disconnections on July 7th. However, JEA says call volumes have reached unprecedented levels in recent days, calling the response ‘overwhelming.’
Based on overwhelming customer response the past few days, JEA will postpone disconnections for non-payment from 7/7 until at least Thu 7/9. If you have an outstanding balance on your account, visit https://t.co/Oy3fd7oK7k to pay your bill or explore our flexible payment options.

JEA says in a statement that it appreciates the efforts being made by customers to avoid disconnections and it wants to ensure that all customers have the opportunity to reach out, so it has decided to push back the date for disconnections until at least July 9th.
If you are experiencing a long hold time over the phone, JEA recommends visiting jea.com to handle transactions.
