Summer Camp @MOCA:

Jacksonville’s Museum of Contemporary Art offers seasonal art camps for kids that teach art techniques in a variety of media through hands-on learning. MOCA said that time will be spent exploring exhibits in galleries, creating in the museum’s studios and learning through practice. Through the program, MOCA hopes to teach each child to problem solve through critical thinking, observation and creative self-expression.

Camps are available for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade and run from June 5 through August 4.

Themed weekly camp sessions are also available for children ages 6-14 throughout the summer. Before care and aftercare options are available as well.

MOSH Summer Discovery Camp:

Jacksonville’s Museum of Science and History is offering three different summer camps. The first one is the One Day, Fun Day Camp, which will take place on May 29 and is for children interested in conducting experiments and making crafts. Participants are expected to explore topics like weather, space, temperature and electricity.

Camps throughout the rest of the summer are split into two age groups. The camp for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade is called “Can You Dig It?” and focuses on archeology and paleontology. Campers will learn how to map excavation sites, make fossil casts and determine what makes a fossil last.

The second camp is for students in grades 9-11. It will allow students to participate in summer camp activities in the morning and volunteer at MOSH in the afternoon for up to 30 hours of community service time over two weeks.

Both camps are being offered between June 12 and August 4.
