Porch pirate steals St. Augustine couple’s special holiday gift

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A young couple in St. Augustine is asking for the community’s help. They told Action News Jax that someone stole a special gift from their doorstep just two days before Christmas.

Aaron Gray shared the Ring doorbell video recorded at his girlfriend’s house on 13th Street in St. Augustine Beach. The package was delivered at 12:55 p.m. Monday. About 15 minutes later, an unknown woman wearing a red, white, and blue shirt is seen walking up to the door and running off with the package.

Gray said they do not recognize this woman, and they reported the theft to the St. Augustine Beach Police Department. He said a special gift was inside that can only be ordered online.

Police put out a warning on social media, asking the public to help identify this woman. They said she is wanted for questioning.

“This is crazy,” Tom Clark said. “I don’t understand why people can’t get their own stuff.”

Clark also lives on 13th Street and said he was surprised to see the Ring doorbell video. Action News Jax spoke to several neighbors who are now worried about packages being delivered to their homes.

“We order a lot of our stuff, and sometimes it comes to our house when we’re not here. So yeah, I’m going to have to rethink how we do our purchases.”

Anyone who recognizes the woman in the video is asked to contact the St. Augustine Beach Police Department.
