DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A fire ripped through the Avesta Townsend Apartments on Wednesday, leaving dozens of families searching for a place to stay and the fire is being described as suspicious.
The State Fire Marshal said the fire that destroyed part of this apartment building is suspicious because someone who lives there showed them text messages that suggest this building could be in danger.

Action News obtained video of the fire, which had intense the flames blasting through the roof.
A woman who lived in apartment 281 where the fire started told us she received suspicious text messages related to the fire that she gave to the State Fire Marshal.
While many residents were put up in a hotel by the Red Cross, Christella Yawp wasn't because she has electricity and smoke damage.
