Florida woman on death row fighting sentence

A woman on Florida’s death row is seeking to get her conviction and death sentence thrown out.

Tiffany Cole’s attorney argued in state Supreme Court Thursday that Cole was given ineffective legal counsel during her trial.

Cole was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery and kidnapping in the 2005 killing of Carol and Reggie Sumner.

The couple was kidnapped from their home and buried alive. Cole’s attorney now argues that her former defense attorney failed to give Cole an early mental health evaluation and rejected all plea offers.

There is no word yet on when the state Supreme Court will make a ruling.
