A local mom is claiming a day care is trying to cover up how her 2-year-old broke his arm. The Department of Children and Families tells Action News Jax there have been no major violations in the last two years at the day care on Pearl Street. The Anderson family tells us their son was in the day care for two weeks and they believe the day care is at fault for their son’s broken arm.
Jayden doesn’t want to be away from his grandma, Charlotte Anderson, or his mom, Amisha Anderson, for any length of time.
“For something like this to happen with my child, I’m upset,” said Amisha Anderson.
Anderson tells us she picked up Jayden on Tuesday from Exceptional Preschool Academy and he was barely asleep, but once he woke up she claims something was wrong. Anderson told her mom that Jayden’s elbow bone didn’t appear to be attached to the rest of his arm. The Andersons tell us the day care workers didn’t say anything about Jayden getting injured.
Exceptional Preschool Academy director Earnestine Jefferson told Action News Jax a completely different story.
“We do not allow that type of negligence when children are your ministry,” said Jefferson.
When we asked Jefferson if Jayden had puffy eyes from crying before leaving the day care, Jefferson said no. Action News Jax reached out to DCF and was told they're investigating the case.
Jayden’s mom took Jayden to UF Health on Tuesday night for X-rays, and she said his left arm is broken. Jefferson said she is confident Jayden didn’t break his arm at this day care.
