Man seriously hurt by hit-and-run driver on Lem Turner Road

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after someone hit a man on Lem Turner Road.

JSO says 20-year-old Joshua Johnson was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries early Monday.

The incident happened on Lem Turner Road just north of I-95. JSO said the an off-duty sergeant spotted the victim and called 911.

The driver was reportedly already gone when police arrived at the scene. So far, JSO haven’t released any information on the driver — or the vehicle.

Lammor McPherson is in the area every day, and says this isn't surprising to hear.

"I call it a death trap," McPherson said. "From here to 95, you get killed if you walk through here, man.

These people need to put a police (officer) somewhere around here, because when they come off 95, and they come through here, the run through here like they're running 100 miles per hour.”
