Nassau County authorities said Wednesday that they had conducted a swearing-in ceremony for a ventriloquist’s puppet named "J.R." at Yulee Elementary School.
A ventriloquist named Dr. Terry Horn, known as Uncle Sam, appeared at the school to discuss appreciation for law enforcement and share safety tips for children.
At the end of the presentation, Nassau County Lieutenant Jon Slebos was called up on stage to swear in J.R. as an “Honorary Deputy.”
