This included children who were victims of crime, witnessed domestic violence, are placed in foster homes, have a crisis in their family or experienced a loss of a home due to fire.

The children were identified by local schools. The toys donated were received at elementary schools in the area. The support of the community helped shop for specific families.

“Over 400 children received toys, surpassing our previous numbers. We are thankful for our partnership with Toys Tour, our community and our agency members who help every year to spread kindness and joy,” read the Putnam County Sheriff’s Facebook post.

In addition to the toys donated, 13 teenagers went shopping with a deputy. This was made possible thanks to the department’s partnership with Walmart Palatka. A total of $1,300 was raised between associates of Walmart, deputies, and civilian employees.

In addition, anonymous donors reached out and gave deputies additional money so each child part of the shopping spree could spend more than $150 each.

Pizza Hut didn’t want to be left out of these amazing gestures as they provided lunch for the teens.
