She tells us peace of mind is hard to find here.

"I mean, safety in the community is the most important thing," she said. "And right now it doesn't seem to be too safe."

Action News Jax told you Saturday when a child was shot in the back twice in the Townsend apartments in Arlington. He's expected to survive.

A man who asked to be called Jo-Jo lives at the Townsend complex, and wasn't concerned by the violence.

"That's just how they were raised," he said. "Some kids, they just got to protect themselves."

The shootings come amid a rash of recent violent incidents in Jacksonville.

On Sunday, a young man was also shot on Colima Place. A teen was shot on Tula Drive on Thursday, and four people were shot on Vermillion Street last Wednesday, including a child. All are expected to survive.

Neighbors say they'd like to see everyone do more to find a solution.

"More police presence," said the Calloway Cove neighbor. "And the community as a whole needs to work on it."
