JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Through supply chain challenges and an ongoing labor shortage, businesses nationwide are feeling the pressure.

One of the local wastewater management services in our area is feeling that weight, putting on a hiring event today to help get more trucks back on the roads.

The Jacksonville Florida division of Waste Pro hosted a one-day hiring event for drivers, driver trainees, mechanics and technicians.

The fair runs until 1 pm.

This comes as curbside recycling will be returning to Jacksonville on April 4, about six months after it was paused.

One of Waste Pro’s most critical needs: qualified drivers.

Applicant Johnathan Lee walked through the doors after hearing about the job opportunity from a family member.

“I’m feeling pretty confident and pretty good,” Lee said. “It’s not my first rodeo.”

Lee said he’s ready for something new.

“I’ve been doing security and everything else, and I’m kind of tired of being in one little spot,” Lee said. “I want to get out and move around a little bit more.”
