VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man and a woman were found dead Monday evening in an apparent murder-suicide in Volusia County, Florida, officials say. Three children were also found inside the house.
According to a news release from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies got a call just before 6:20 p.m. for a stabbing at a house. When deputies arrived at the house, they found a man and a woman unresponsive.
The house was located in Deltona, Florida, according to WFTV.
VCSO said that the early stages of the investigation and the information collected so far suggest that the man stabbed the woman before stabbing himself.
According to WFTV, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. Deputies also found three children inside the house who were not injured.
“On behalf of Sheriff Chitwood and the entire agency, the surviving children have our thoughts, prayers and commitment to provide a thorough investigation and access to all the resources they will need,” VSCO said in the news release.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released, including the names of the man and woman, according to WFTV.
