According to a news release from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Epoch Everlasting Play LLC, of Pine Brook, New Jersey, is recalling all of its Calico Critters flocked animal figures and sets with those accessories.

Epoch Everlasting Play said in the news release that it was aware of three incidents involving the pacifier accessory, including two deaths.

One of the fatalities involved a 2-year-old child in New Mexico in 2018, and a 9-month-old child from Japan who died in 2015, the CPSC said.

According to the agency, the pacifier accessories were sold in blue, dark pink, orange, pink, yellow and teal colors. One style of the bottle has two yellow handles.

The items were sold nationwide at Walmart, Meijer, and other stores, and online at www.calicocritters.com and www.amazon.com from January 2000 through December 2021. The prices for the items ranged between $10 and $80, the CPSC said.

The agency said that consumers should immediately take the bottle and pacifier accessories away from children and contact Epoch Everlasting Play for instructions on how to submit a photo of the recalled bottle and/or pacifier accessory. Consumers should include contact information and confirmation of destruction to receive a free replacement accessory.
