Tennessee mom, friend charged in 14-month-old girl’s death

JACKSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A Tennessee mom and a friend are facing charges in the death of the woman's 14-month-old daughter, authorities said.

According to WZTV, Tessa Thomas, 26, and Zach Dale, 33, were arrested Tuesday, more than eight months after Thomas' toddler, Reeves Thomas, died from various injuries at a Nashville hospital. Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation later determined that Thomas and Dale had been responsible for the girl's wounds, the TBI said in a news release.

Dale faces charges of felony murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect in the case, the release said. Thomas faces an aggravated child neglect charge, authorities said.

Both Dale and Thomas are being held at the Jackson County Jail, WZTV reported. No bond was set for Dale, while Thomas' bond was set at $100,000, according to the TBI.
