City of St. Augustine taking preparatory measures to help businesses reopen

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The city of St. Augustine has approved a measure to wholesale purchase about 250,000 masks at a cost of about $82,500.

City manager John Regan tells Action News Jax the masks will be available for businesses to buy in bulk as the city reopens.

Regan says having masks readily available for businesses is important because many businesses in the city are based on tourism, which means people are often in close contact.

Regan tells us the city’s effort to open reopen its economy depends on measures at the state level. He added that the city is working with the state and St. Johns County to develop its plans to reopen.
