JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Starting today, Duval County secondary schools will have vaccination clinics to help administer the COVID-19 vaccine as part of their “Duval Vax of Kindness” event. Students, 12 years old and older, can receive the Pfizer vaccine at the school rather than going to a vaccination site.
Parents would need to print out a permission form on the DCPS website, complete it and send it to the school’s main office. Different schools will have different starting dates with 12 schools starting this week.
You can check out more on the “Duval Vax of Kindness” at the DCPS website.
After starting school a week ago, Duval County schools has seen 270 students and 47 staff test positive for COVID-19. Of those 270 students, 165 were elementary students. Clay County had 80 students and 29 staff members test positive. St Johns County, who started school on Monday, has 141 students and 69 staffers test positive.
Viruses like COVID-19 can’t thrive when they can’t spread, and vaccinated people help prevent that spread.
