Coronavirus fallout forces Calico Corners to close Jacksonville store

The financial fallout from the coronavirus pandemic is forcing some businesses to close for good.

Calico Corners is a specialty retailer of decorative fabrics with a longtime Jacksonville store.

After 37 years in Jacksonville, the store is going out of business.

Stacy Silvestri, one of the owners, said the business was struggling even before COVID-19 forced them to close for two months.

"Times were a little bit tough going into this and we were kind of hanging in there and when this happened it was just a little bit more than we could handle,” Silvestri said.

She said it was a difficult decision to close for good.

“We love Jacksonville. We have wonderful customers that we love. It’s been a great place and we’ve had a lot of really, really good years and we’re really sad that’s going to end,” Silvestri said.

The store offers a wide variety of name brand upholsteries, prints embroideries, sheers, silks, vinyl, outdoor and performance fabrics used for window treatments, upholstery, slipcovers, bedding, cushions, pillows and much more.

The store closing sale launches Thursday to the public.

Regular prices will be discounted up to 50% off.
