Young woman shot and killed in Sherwood Forest area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a woman between the ages of 16 and 20 was shot and killed Thursday night on the 4700 block of Portsmouth Avenue.

A man between 18 and 20 was also taken to the hospital by a private vehicle with non life-threatening injuries.

JSO said initial investigations indicate both victims were in their vehicle when a gray car stopped in front of them and two men got out and started shooting before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and surveillance in the area.

Anyone in the area with security cameras is asked to review the footage from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. If they see a gray car, they are asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
