Head of charity linked to Rep. Corrine Brown pleads guilty to wire fraud

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax has obtained federal documents showing Carla Wiley, President of One Door for Education, a charity linked to Congresswomen Corrine Brown, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

The documents show Wiley and “Person B” deposited about $800,000 into the One Door bank account. The money was donated by major corporations, private philanthropies and entities and individuals based in Jacksonville.

But records show the group only distributed one scholarship for $1,000.

Records show Wiley made $140,000 in cash withdrawals, or account transfers from the One Door account to her personal bank account and also made cash deposits to “Person A’s” bank accounts.

On Thursday night, Action News Jax revealed checks made out to One Door for Education were being directed to the private home of Brown's Chief of Staff Ronnie Simmons.
