Coronavirus: N95 masks lost in tractor trailer fire on Middle Tennessee interstate

SMITH COUNTY, Tenn. — With N95 masks at a premium, even the loss of one is tough to swallow. Saturday on a Tennessee interstate highway, the precious masks and hospital gowns were lost in a tractor-trailer fire.

The accident happened in Smith County near the Gordonsville exit, several miles east of Nashville, WKRN reported.

According to emergency personnel at the scene. the fire was ignited when a rear wheel sparked, the television station reported.

The trailer was full, although it was unclear how many masks and gowns were lost.

The person driving the truck was not seriously injured, according to WKRN.
